Dear President Obama:
Perhaps you will find it in your heart to address the greatest civil rights violation since American slavery: the mass murder of unborn children. It pains me to see you uphold a practice that is snuffing out the lives of millions of children. What's more, the disproportionate amount of black children being aborted should concern you: 40 per cent of all abortions are performed on a people that make up only 13% of the population. As a black American, I find these statistics alarming.
WHY, WHY, WHY do you consider an unwanted pregnancy as being "punished with a baby"? Is your partnership with Planned Parenthood, the nation's biggest abortion provider, THAT strong, sir, that you will fight to preserve a practice that is so inhumane and barbaric? Your policies have never shown the slightest sentiment or empathy for the plight of the unborn. Have you ever once publicly decried the suffering and death of mothers involved in legal abortions, or the macabre practice of abortion "doctors" killing late-term babies and even infants born alive.
Many Christians are praying that you -- a fellow Christian, will reconsider and somehow be moved to change your heart and mind to protect these precious innocents. It is a human rights issue because unborn babies ARE human. It's a civil rights issue because the rights of our most vulnerable and helpless citizens are being trampled upon as they are stabbed, sliced and diced, and suctioned out of the womb -- mostly because of our greed and selfishness.
In the spirit of history's advocates for the emancipation of black people, I pray that you use your office to give the unborn their rightful place as HUMAN, as CITIZENS, as AMERICANS: Please extend human and civil rights to those who have no voice -- America's unborn children.

Nice emotional appeal, "precious innocents." All you Christians praying to put a stop to the "macabre practice of abortion" ".....unborn babies ARE human." Blah, Blah, Blah. Enough to bring you to tears.
Over 75% of all abortions are by Christians (18% is by Born-again/Evangelicals). Does the prayers of those Christians having abortions cancel the prayers of Christians against abortion? Is this why the controversy rages on? God only knows..... Well I think I know.
It is because of the extreme irrational right wing argument you present juxtaposed against the extreme irrational left wing argument (which I will not go into).
To begin, Aristotle thought we became human on the 40th day (for males) or 80th day (for females) after conception. Thomas Aquinas embraced this idea and it was accepted by the Catholic Church up until the middle of the 19th century. At tat point Pius IX conjured up the idea that while basic existence begins at conception, the fetus isn’t ensouled until several weeks out, at which point it becomes human. Abortion, prior to ensoulment, was not considered murder.
The there is the quickening or the point at which the fetus begins to move. Which is usually around the 16th week of pregnancy. Roe observed, abortion before quickening wasn’t an indictable offense in English common law, which is where we derive much of our common laws.
Then there's implantation of the embryo in the uterine wall, the commencement of brain activity, and a host of other mordern day ideas. I've heard some Christians say it is when you take you first breath. They cite Gen 2:7 as proof of this along with Ex 21:22-23 where God himself does'nt invoke the death penalty for killing an unborn child. I guess your Christian Culture would deem that Christian Culture as lost and deceived. Witch one of you are right? God only knows.... Well I think I know.
You are right! Human life begins at conception, no biologist will argue this point. To believe otherwise one would be misinformed. To this I say, "so what!" We justifiably kill humans all the time. (Hint: war, capital punishment).
It is not so much as when human life begins but when we should bestow personhood. A bundle of a few hundred cells does not a person make. I further contend that if there is no detectable brain activity, there is no person. If you were in a hospital, unresponsive with no detectable brain activity, you can be killed and it would not be homicide.
This occurs after the 25th week. Less than 1% of abortions are performed after this time. I believe this number would dwindle to near 0% if it were not for the radical view you purport, and the stigma placed on society by (some)Christians following lockstep to religious dogma.
Mind you, I do believe that after 25 weeks the child should be given some rights, with the right to life chief among them.
Roe made a great decision by balancing the rights of the unborn with those of the mother. To bestow rights on a non persons is ridiculous at best. Obama, while being a Christian, is not part of your Christian culture. Which one of you wil burn in Hell? God only knows..... Well I think I do.
What's funny is when McFad tries to defend this practice -- and it is macabre -- perhaps he doesn't know that the lady whose name is connected with the case, "Jane Roe" or Norma McCorvey, is now adamently and passionately PRO-LIFE. Ever wonder why? Many other medical professionals have refused to perform these "procedures" anymore, my late mother (a nurse anesthetist) being one of those. In my opinion, it doesn't matter who is having them, Christian, atheist, Samoan or Eskimo -- it STILL is a sad, sad scar on our human character that we so easily destroy innocent life. Read the book, UNPLANNED.
